I hope everyone has had a great winter break and holiday season.

In January we only have two (2) meetings. They are on the 14th and the 28th. This is because Cobb Schools are out the other Mondays. Both are Den meetings so each Den will have time to complete their requirements before the Blue and Gold banquet in February.

Upcoming Pinewood Derby:

If you need help with cutting out the Pinewood Derby car, Lowes in Acworth can help. On January 5th at 11am-1pm, they will have a Lowes/Dremel Pinewood workshop. I’ve talked to the Lowes in Acworth and have confirmed that they will have a bandsaw there and will help you and your scout cut out the car. They also will be doing this on January 19th. Check out http://www.dremelderby.com/about.aspx for more info.

Here is the Pinewood Derby schedule:

January 25      6 pm – 7pm      Check-in
January 26      10 am   Check-in
                             10:30 am        First Race
12 pm   Lunch, Vote for Best in Show
                             1 pm    Races continue

The race order will be Tigers, Wolf den 1, Wolf den 2, Bears, Web 1, Web 2, Siblings, and Scout Finals.

On January 25th at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall we will have the check-in and weigh-in for the Pinewood Derby. The scout must be present when the car is checked in. We will have a Dremel, drill, and some glue around for you to use if any adjustments are needed. However, you will need to bring some extra weight if you car is light. Once the car is weighed and checked in, the car will be impounded until the race. Once in impound, the car can not be modified. If you can’t make the Friday night check in, you can check-in Saturday morning.

Race day, January 26th. Check in time is 10am. Again, the scout has to be the one to check the car in. Like the 25th, please be prepared to modify the weight of the car. Once checked in, the car will be impounded. Races will start at 10:30. The scout must be present for his car to race. Even if he was there to check it in, the scout must be present to race. We will break for a Pack 2096 lunch around noon and then continue racing after lunch. Each car will race in each lane and against each of the other cars in his Den. The winner of each Den will race in the finals.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Turn right and go to the end of the parking lot, where you will see Pavilion #1 on the corner. Park in the lot just past the Pavilion. See you there!

Hope to see you all tonight at the Church for the Raingutter Regatta! Please try to be there no later than 7 pm and meet at the portico to the right of the sanctuary in the front. For those who came last year, it’s in the same spot. We will also have handouts for the Pack picnic this Saturday at Cauble Park. Don’t forget to save those 2-liter bottles!
